WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2020

Our Nursery is part of Thornton-in-Craven Community Primary School.  It is a 12 place Nursery for children aged 3 and 4 years with its own entrance and fenced play area.  We take children the term after their third birthday, if places are available.  There are three intake times in the year at the start of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms (depending on availability of places).

Nursery Admissions

If you would like your child to attend the Nursery then you need to contact the school secretary in person or by phone (01282 843381) to arrange to visit the school and complete an application form.  When a place becomes available we will contact you the term before your child is eligible to start.

All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours free early education or childcare and some children of working parents will be  eligible for a further 15 hours free provision under the government ‘30 hours free childcare’ scheme.

Further information and an application form can be downloaded via the links below.

Testimony directly from our parents:

"George started nursery in September 2019.  He thinks the world of all the teachers and teaching assistants, especially Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Brewster. He has made so many friends. He has come on leaps since changing nurseries, he has started writing, reading and his favourite maths sums, he has made great progress and is more than ready to start reception in September. "

"My child settled into the nursery class with no problems despite having been at his previous nursery since a baby. Mrs Wilkinson is so loving and caring she provides the nurture that the children need. They have created a lovely environment that makes the children feel safe, happy and ready to learn. Despite my child only being in nursery he learnt so much by the Christmas holidays. He loved to show off to family and friends that he had been given a reading book. He also grew in confidence and his speech improved in those first few months. We couldn’t believe how he had changed in such short time. I know other parents have seen the same improvement and progression in their children too. The observations and feedback provided by Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Brewster via the online learning journal means I can check on him when at work. It is also lovely for them to take the time to comment on observations added by us about what they’ve done at home. The teaching staff are always available to answer any questions. I would recommend the nursery and school to anyone who is looking for a friendly place for their children to develop, learn and flourish."

"I moved my daughter into the school's nursery despite knowing that due to our own circumstances she wouldn't be attending the school.  I could see the benefits of a school based nursery where she would be taught by a qualified teacher and higher level teaching assistant.  As the school is small, she settled in brilliantly and has been loved and looked after by all the pupils and staff.  It is fantastic to see her confidently playing games such as 'duck, duck, goose' or tig with much older pupils.  School is seen as fun and nothing to be worried about.  She is very 'school ready'  and is beginning to read and have a good understanding of number.  Most importantly though she has really loved her time at Thornton-in-Craven School nursery.  We highly recommend it."
